Lady Vols' Spencer has surgery on knee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee forward Sidney Spencer had surgery Monday to repair a torn ligament in her right knee.

Spencer tore her anterior cruciate ligament in practice Feb. 23, causing her to miss the rest of the season.

Doctors reconstructed Spencer's knee, said Jenny Moshak, Tennessee's assistant athletic director for sports medicine.

Spencer, a 6-foot-3 sophomore from Hoover, Ala., had played in all 25 games and started 13. She averaged 5.2 points, four rebounds and almost 19 minutes per game.
